American scientists have found that about 70% of emotional reactions to certain situations can be called universal for the inhabitants of the planet
The researchers trained the algorithm to recognize 16 types of facial expressions associated with various categories of emotions (fun, anger, awe, concentration, confusion, contempt, satisfaction, desire, disappointment, doubt, delight, interest, pain, sadness, surprise, triumph).
The scientists then matched the facial expressions with the contexts and scenarios in which they appeared in different parts of the world. As a result, they found striking similarities in the way people living in different geographical and cultural realities use facial expressions in different social contexts (experiencing certain events).
When analyzing the videos, it turned out that people all over the world are equally delighted during fireworks, celebrate at weddings, wrinkle their eyebrows with concentration during martial arts, experience pain when lifting weights and triumph in sports competitions.
