CHICAGO GOVERNOR FIRED AT GOVERNMENT AND Chicago
CHICAGO GOVERNOR FIRED AT GOVERNMENT AND SAYS THIS PANDEMIC IS LIKE A BULLET TRAIN
"The peak is stronger than we expected and the peak is earlier than we anticipated," said Mr Cuomo Tuesday to reporters.
He claimed the federal government has not been providing almost enough lifesaving supplies to cope with the situation.
New York currently reports more than 25,000 reported infections of the infection and at least 210 deaths.
The World Health Organization (WHO) reported on Tuesday that the United States had the ability to become the next coronavirus pandemic epicentre.
The alerts are coming after President Donald Trump said he expected next month that the US will reopen for business.
"We need government aid and we need federal funding immediately," said Mr. Cuomo, a Democrat.
"New York is the death knell, New York is coming first, what's going to happen to New York is going to happen to California and Illinois, it's just near."
The governor attacked the US Federal Emergency Response Agency's 400 ventilators in New York.
He added: "You choose the 26,000 people who would suffer if you just sent 400 fans." New York only has 7,000 fans, so it wants 30,000, said the governor.
Mr Cuomo continued: "The forecaster [infection] says to me, ' We've been looking at a freight train going across land. '
"' We're staring at a bullet train now. '' The state is still trying to build additional health-care zones, probably by converting college dormitories and hotels into temporary hospitals.
