Male African lion of Brookfield Zoo, Zenda dies
The Brookfield Zoo said its male African lion Zenda has died at age 13. The death of the male African lion was announced by the zoo on Friday. If he had been alive, he would have turned 14 in July. According to the officials of the zoo, Zenda was facing problem in walking and standing juts before Christmas. Although the veterinarians gave him the required treatment but his health declined unusually on Thursday, as per the officials of the zoo. This resulted in euthanizing him by the zoo.
Revealed through necropsy, the zoo said that tthe loin was found to have multiple ruptured degenerative discs due to old age. These ruptures were found in his spine and the discs couldn't be operated anymore. Zenda, a geriatric lion, arrived at the zoo in the month of May 2008.
In a statment released by the zoo officials, upon his death, it was said that, "In his later years, he began losing his impressive mane, but his impressive roar could often be heard from across the park."
Zenda mated with Isis who had also come to the zoo in 2008 and will turn 15 in 2020. The health of Isis will be closely monitored by the zoo staff as she adjusts to the loss of Zenda.

The Ashland stop at the CTA Orange Line was closed and temporarily evacuated due to a gas leak on Friday night. An incident took place at a South Shore high-rise in which two children have died by jumping from the 11th floor.

В Воронеже этим воскресеньям пятого января в библиотеке (имени Никитина) как концерт под названием “музыка слова”. Все любители хороших слов в рифму то есть стихов, и гитарной музыки могут посетить этот концерт.
Для тех у кого музыка вызывает порыв вдохновения, им предлагают с собой взять наборы для рисования. Участники интернет-сообщества под названием “Зарисовка тут - и - там” ,так и собирается поступить в это воскресенье. С концерта в уютной атмосфере ими поступило предложение о присоединении к ним всех желающих в создании различных зарисовок.
Это мероприятие будет проходить в (Воронежской универсальной научной областной библиотеке имени Никитина) которая находится на площади Ленина два ,сто четыре.
Начало возьмёт в воскресенье пятого января в час после полудня.
Козинак шарики - необычная версия грузинского новогоднего леденца
Козинаки - это традиционные грузинские конфеты, сделанные из натурального меда и грецких орехов, которые, как правило, подают на Новый год и Рождество. Обычно это восхитительное лакомство сплющивают, нарезают ломтиками и подают на тарелку, но если вы хотите поэкспериментировать и попробовать что-то новое, мы предлагаем современную версию козинака в форме шариков.
Ингредиенты: грецкие орехи - 700 г, мед - 480 г.
Вам нужно обжарить грецкие орехи на сковороде или запекать в духовке до золотистого цвета в течение 5-7 минут. Тем временем растопить мед на сковороде, пока он не закипит. (В отличие от традиционного способа приготовления козинака, не позволяйте мёду вскипеть; в противном случае он теряет все свои существенные преимущества и затвердевает). Размешайте мёд деревянной ложкой, а когда он закипит, снимите его с огня, дайте ему остыть и снова зажгите. Повторите эту процедуру три раза, чтобы мед хорошо загустел. Нарежьте жареные грецкие орехи и вылейте их на мед в кастрюлю. Размешайте в течение 3-4 минут, чтобы все грецкие орехи были хорошо покрыты медом, и когда смесь станет золотисто-коричневой, выньте ее из кастрюли и перенесите козинаки на мокрый деревянный стол.
