Chicago transit authority: employees test positive for covid-19
On Tuesday night, 24th March 2020, two rail operators- the first one working out of the 77th Bus Garage at 210 W.79th Street; and the second, working out of the 95th Street Terminal at 15W- tested positive for COVID-19. This is the third case in the organization as last week, another driver had tested positive.
Chicago Transit Authority (CTA), the company hosting the two employees, announced that it has been in communication with any other employee who may have directly come in contact with either of the workers. Further, rather responsibly, CTA also encouraged other employees who may be feeling sick to self-quarantine themselves and contact health officials. Further, employees have received social distancing guidelines, recommendations for which have also been posted on their buses and railcars.
In one statement, CTA iterated that it has ensured vigorous cleaning of railcars, buses and stations as a daily routine. Further, vehicles and stations are disinfected as well, while the former even receives deep cleanings. The health officials in the city, after pertinent scrutiny, have confirmed that CTA’s cleaning plan and procedures will suffice.
CTA further confirmed that their inventory is packed with cleaning equipments. They have also taken measures for spreading awareness with regard to frequent washing of hands for at least 20 seconds. In request for release from Chicago jail, R. Kelly cites coronavirus risk
Singer R. Kelly who was accused of child pornography, human trafficking for sexual purposes, sexual assault and many more and was kept behind the bars in the Chicago jail, has appealed the federal judge on Thursday to set him free giving the excuse that the jail is a prone place to be infected by the virus. There are no means to conduct social distancing as there are only two male cells with about 700 inmates. There is no sufficient quantity of sanitizer or other safety measures provided by the jail authority. His lawyer has appealed on the ground that hgis health does not allow him to stay in such an unhygienic environment under the threat of this fatal virus. As Kelly is 53 years old and according to the medical reports the people above the age of 50 with other medical issues are more prone to catch the virus and the effects could be the worst. The crime done by Kelly is quite serious as the matter involves shooting porn with under aged girls, so keeping in mind the severity of crime it is not easy to provide him the bail but the life of a person is always prior. So he will be kept under electronic surveillance at his girl friend’s house. All depends if the judges are available as they are also working from home under the fear of the virus.
How to keep hackers from exploiting work-from-home vulnerabilities?
Currently, we are struggling through a great pandemic,COVID-19. For precautionary measures, all working individuals have to work from home to stop the incubation period of coronavirus. Working from home raised many problems for the employees like spams, phishing, unauthorized access to their working appliances, routers, etc. Major problems all were facing is that due to the hackers. They were targeting their system for the classified documents.Individuals don't have a secure network like that of a corporate network. They have unsecured WiFi networks and routers with weak passwords. Companies did not get enough time to issue secured devices. But after all this, we have to survive that breach and complete the company's work. To avoid all this, we have to check whether our personal and corporate email passwords are different or not. Use a paid antivirus program as free antivirus aren't much of use and less secure. Keep in mind that passwords must contain a combination of uppercase and lowercase letters, special symbols and non alphanumeric symbols. Wifi router passwords should be changed as they are more prone to these attacks. Workstations should be updated regularly. These steps will help ourselves to survive such a pandemic and we can do our job from home without much worry and headaches.
