West-Nile-Virus-carrying mosquitoes detected in Tulsa

Authorities of the Tulsa Health Department (THD) confirmed the presence of West Nile Virus (WNV) in the mosquito samples collected from a trap in Tulsa County. As per WHO and the American Mosquito Control Association, there is no evidence that mosquitoes can transmit COVID-19, a virus that affects the respiratory system and spreads maximally via droplets when an infected person sneezes, coughs or talks. Mosquitoes can transmit viruses like WNV, and hence, people are recommended to use repellents containing DEET.

THD functions on an efficient budget to control mosquito populations by nationally-recognized mosquito surveillance programs which also helps to affirm the presence of mosquito-borne illnesses in the community. The target of the surveillance is to identify the presence of mosquitoes, to know its abundance, species, make a hazard appraisal, and give a premise to control. Control strategies incorporate larviciding and spraying when required. The mosquito surveillance has implemented new testing guidelines and is working to trap potential WNV positive mosquitoes as soon as possible. Every year since 2003, human cases of WNV disease are observed in Tulsa County. The virus infects human via mosquito bites, and the symptoms of this disease include headache, sudden onset of fever, muscle weakness and dizziness. Precautions to be taken are:

  • Do not dump waste materials in stagnant water and drain out such items, so that mosquitoes do not get a place to breed.
  • Use DEET containing, or CDC approved mosquito repellents.
  • Ensure gutters are not clogged.
  • Encourage people around you to dump and drain as well as use repellents.

A Vermont Downtown Mall Is a High School Now

The Downtown Burlington High School opened March 4, about six months after school administrators closed the existing school, just under 2 miles away, because toxic industrial chemicals known as PCBs were found in the building and soil during renovations. That left students stuck at home learning remotely for much of the school year during the coronavirus pandemic.

As school officials looked for space where students could attend school in-person, they eventually eyed the empty department store, which closed in 2018. They talked with architects and learned it was a possibility, said Superintendent Tom Flanagan.

The building underwent a $3.5 million retrofit supported by the state that added partial walls for classrooms while keeping some Macy’s remnants, like the sparkly white tile floors, bright red carpeting, and Calvin Klein and Michael Kors signs and a large-scale Levi’s jeans photo on a classroom wall. The library is housed in the former Macy’s china department, with books displayed on under-lit shelves, while the gym is in a former store’s warehouse and is still unfinished.

A German shepherd nicknamed Gunther VI "sold" a villa in Miami, which previously belonged to the singer Madonna

The dog inherited this property.

The eight-bedroom villa overlooking Biscayne Bay has now sold for $ 31.75 million. Madonna sold her estate for $ 7.5 million.

Günther VI's great-grandfather inherited a multimillion-dollar inheritance from the late German Countess Carlotta Liebenstein in 1992. From the great-grandfather (Günther III) the inheritance passed to Günther IV, and only then to Günther VI. All dogs had their own guardians who decided how to dispose of the property.

is part of a board that manages a trust worth nearly $ 500 million dollars.

The story of dogs that inherited millions has often been questioned. In 2005, the Tampa Bay Times reported that the story of German Countess Carlotta Liebenstein could be part of a "publicity stunt."

The publication noted that the Italian press published an article in 1995, which stated that Countess Carlotta Liebenstein never existed.

Günther VI lives a real royal life. Every morning, the chef prepares a breakfast of the best meat, fresh vegetables and rice. Sometimes the shepherd eats caviar. The dog also likes to travel by private plane and works with his trainer every day. The shepherd sleeps in a luxurious red velvet bed overlooking the bay.

Google has introduced an application that uses artificial intelligence to help people understand the condition of their skin, hair and nails

Users can use their phone's camera to take three pictures of the problem area, such as a rash on the arm. They will then answer a series of questions about their skin type and other symptoms. As a result, the tool gives a list of possible diseases that it is trained to recognize. Google stressed that the program is not designed to diagnose the problem.

The company decided to fight skin diseases with artificial intelligence because of their prevalence.
