Joshua Brown Murder – Following Guyger's Dallas
Major Eric Johnson told Him that on Sunday he expects the police to carry out an in-depth investigation into Joshua Brown's shooting. DALLAS — In the recent trial of a police officer who has been convicted of murder for murdering his upstairs neighbor, the mayor of Dallas asked the public not to talk about the fatal shooting of the main witness.
On Twitter on Sunday, Mayor Eric Johnson said he expected the police to perform a thorough investigation into Joshua Brown's murder and that in the meantime people would "refrain from speculation."
Brown, 28 years of age, was murdered in a fatal shooting in September 2018 by her upstairs neighbor, Botham Jean, just three days after the jury found Amber Guyger guilty of murder. She claimed she mistreated her own apartment while working a long shift and assumed Jean was a burglar.
Brown stayed in the same building, although the police have said that he's been shot to death in another. The U. Renee Hall Inspector, an officer, said on Sunday that Brown was not being murdered by her unit.
The lawyer at the Jean estate, Lee Merritt, posted on Twitter a statement that he spoke to Brown's mom and said: "she's distraught." He claimed he stayed in the 4th floor on the night of the murder in a hallway with Jean, and then heard what sounded "two gunshots by accident." Brown became distressed and used his T-shirt and pillow at points during his deposition for drying eyes. For the first time that day, he told us that he had met Jean, a 26-year-old accountant from St. Lucia's Caribbean island nation.
Brown claimed that he relocated to Texas in 2008 from South Florida University, where he played soccer, according to the Dallas Morning News, around 2012 and 2013 and had left in 2008.
"Joshua was a loveable and respected leader of our football team, and many of the lives were impacted by his death," said USF. "In this really painful time, our hearts turn to Joshua's parents, friends, and loved ones." Brown was shot in his foot last year and a 25-year-old man was shot dead outside a night club, the newspaper reported.
CBS News was told by Merritt that Brown became upset after this incident that somebody was watching him. "He is hesitant to appear here because he was fired and feared that some individuals could hurt him," said Merritt.
