Volunteers help clean up the Church of D Dallas
Dallas, United States Of America
Since 1980, the First Mexican Baptist Church has been located in Betty Jane Lane, Dallas.
After floods devastated the Dallas Church last month, hundreds of volunteers spent their Saturday trying to clean up.
Pastor Ricardo Brambila, with the First Mexican Baptist Church, or Primera Iglesia Bautista, on Betty Jane Avenue, said that this week at least five tons of rubble had been removed, but Saturday put together the largest crowd of volunteers, with at least 300 people helping to clean up the mess.
"The community is brought together by a disaster like this and there are no denominal barriers, no borders," Brambila said. The Congregation has been there since 1980 according to Brambila. A place of worship and countless celebrations was the building itself.
"We've lost something," he said. "It's been taken away so quickly.
However, he said that because of the outpouring of community support, affection and empathy within the church's walls were renewed. Nearby churches, including the Marsh Lane Baptist Church, served hot meals that appeared undamaged.
