<p>Attorneys are predicting that a lot of lawsuits will surface against many alleged child molesters and the institutions that employed them after the new law against sex abuse which will come into effect next year. The new law got stated as an “existential threat” to the schools in the smaller district by the California school boards. </p><p>Attorneys also predicted a possible bankruptcy for various school boards such as the Boy Scouts of America and the Roman Catholic Church due to the numbers of lawsuits these boards could face. These lawsuits are newly possible after the governor Gavin Newsome on Sunday approved a new age for the victim of sexual abuse. </p><p>The period to appeal against a case of sexual violence increased to 40 from 26. In an additional clause, any age of victim can appeal against sexual abuse for the next three years from the time of implementation on 1st January.</p><p> </p>

<p>DENVER — A couple from Denver is going on a long way to find their missing dog, having escaped from their home more than 3 months ago.</p><p>Helen Oh and her husband were married back in August, and say it was the happiest day of their lives.</p><p>"It was a perfect day," Oh said.</p><p>But she says there was something missing.</p><p>"It was very hard to be just kind of present We almost canceled the wedding, "Oh said</p><p>Their five-year-old white husky-shepherd mix, Nala, jumped out of the bedroom window back in June to look for something.</p><p>Oh, and her husband has been searching for her ever since.</p><p>"It was completely life-altering. I'm forever changed as a person because of this, "she added.</p><p>They've got "lost dog" signs sitting outside their homes and around the city. "When people see her sign, I want people to know that she's a valued family member and that she's very missed at home," Zeus, her best friend, said.</p><p>"We got him a year after we got her, so he doesn't know life without her," Oh said. "He didn't eat for the first few weeks. He definitely knew that there was something up," she said, tearing up. The couple hired a private investigator who brought perfume dogs from Nebraska.</p><p>"This sounds extreme. But if you'd do it for your kids, that's just where we're talking of having her," said Oh. The last location that the private investigator was able to track Nala's smell was on the Platte River, around the 11th and Alcott.</p><p>It was back around the 4th of July. Since then, there have been no signs or hints as to where she might be. But they haven't given up, thanks in part to a public rally on twitter behind them. And coordinating Nala search parties.</p><p>"So much of my faith and trust has been restored, not only to my community but to people everywhere. We've had friends to share this, and it's just totally snowballed into something much bigger than I'd ever imagined," Oh said.</p>

<p>DENVER – On Monday, the police identified a man who had been arrested on Sunday in connection with a deadly shooting in southwest Denver.</p><p>Alberto Calcurian, 41, was taken into custody for suspicion of a charge of first-degree murder, according to Denver Police and a written warrant of his arrest on Monday.</p><p>Calcurian, according to the affidavit, called 911 on Sunday and remained on the phone with a supervisor until the police arrived at his home in the 100 block of Xavier Avenue.</p><p>Exactly what he told the dispatchers was written down in the affidavit, but it was enough for the dispatcher to ask him if he had any mental health problems, which he said were not.</p><p>Police found a handgun on the floor of his home and found a 59-year-old man with several gunshot wounds on the same block. Around 45 minutes later, the man who had not been named was pronounced dead at the Denver Health Medical Center.</p><p>The affidavit states that the investigators were able to determine that the man had been shot outside his parked truck.</p><p>Many witnesses reported hearing gunshots in the neighborhood, but none said they saw the shooting. One of the witnesses said they saw a man who matched Calcurian's description, moving his car away from the home where the shooting took place after he heard the shots fired.</p><p>The witness said that Calcurian and the car had been taken into custody at the same location where he had moved his car.</p><p> When Calcurian was questioned by the police, he spoke to them until they started asking about the incident once he finished the interrogation and was sent to Denver jail, according to an affidavit. The name of the victim will be reported by the Office of the Medical Examiner.</p>

<p>A Denver Uber driver told a court on Monday that his rider made sexual advances and kissed him, and that he was hit when he threatened to pull the passenger out. That's why the driver, Michael Hancock, shot 10 bullets at his passenger with a pistol from his car. Hyun Kim was hit by six bullets, killing him. Hancock shared his version of events at Monday's hearing from the early morning hours of June 1, 2018. His first-degree murder trial began his second week and closing arguments on Tuesday afternoon were planned.</p><p>Hancock insists that he was forced to shoot Kim in self-defense while traveling on Interstate 25 near University Road, and he told the jury that he was 100% terrified for his life.</p><p>Attorneys asked the suspect about that night's events where what was intended to be a two-mile trip transformed into an odyssey of more than 70 miles that culminated in the attack. When he called Uber for a ride home, Kim had been drinking with friends at a karaoke bar. During the ride, Hancock said Kim touched him, and although he explained to Kim that he wasn't gay and that he didn't care about his advances, Kim continued his attempts. </p><p>Hancock said he advised Kim he'd just pull over and drop him off by the second time it happened. He also said that for the steering wheel and gear shifter, Kim was trying to reach. That's when Kim started to attack and kick Hancock, he said. According to his testimony, the two had a physical altercation while Hancock was riding.</p><p>When he eased onto the I-25 ambulance lane, the driver started slowing the Nissan Sentra. According to prosecutors, his pace fell from 60 mph to 0 mph in 12 seconds. Hancock said Kim seemed to be looking for something, so he was attempting to get out of the driver's side door. Instead, Kim pulled the hair of Hancock, Hancock added. </p><p>According to the deposition, Kim was standing on the side door of the car when Hancock struggled to get out. Hancock said this was why he took and released his semi-automatic Ruger.40-caliber pistol from his holster. According to evidence, he has a secret handgun permit. After the attack, at the University exit, Hancock's car fell and smashed into the on-ramp median onI-25 southbound. Before it struck the outside door, Hancock tried to chase the vehicle. He asked to call a witness 911.</p><p>Hancock claimed his purpose was not to kill Kim but to "eliminate the threat" during his testimony. Hancock told a dispatcher that Kim pulled his knife at one stage during the 911 call. Yet Hancock said in his deposition that he was holding the knife in Kim's hand to see if he would react and after the shooting was alive. Reinert asked whether, before the police arrived, Hancock could push the gun.</p><p>Hancock was at times distressed and breathed heavily when staring at filming scene images. Hancock said at one stage that he wouldn't want to see a picture. But attorneys clarified that it was important for the case, irrespective of how hard it was to see.</p><p><br></p>

<p>Virginia mops up huge at the beer Oscars on Saturday, winning 13 awards.</p><p>3 of those went to the breweries on the Peninsula.</p><p>The Great American Beer Festival, held each year in Denver, is the largest and most necessary jury contest for beer, attended by thousands of brewers and beer fans from all over the country About 9,500 beers have entered this year's competition A gold medal can help launch a brewing career or at very least justify it.</p><p>Thirteen awards are an unusually strong display for the commonwealth. The only time Virginia breweries won more was in 2013 with 14 total awards. That year, the only winner for Hampton Roads was Smart mouths for its Notch 9 Double IPA.</p><p>The tally went up to three medals this year.</p><p>Doug Reier, owner of Bull Island Brewing in Hampton was at the festival when his Oyster Jalapeño Porter was named the 3rd best chili beer in the country out of 97 entries.</p><p>"I was caught by surprise. I mean they're all anticipates to win, but still." He said he didn't process the information at first until a couple of other people from the brewery acknowledged it. "They looked at me and said, ' that’s you!’ It was an adrenaline jump'</p><p>Reier says the jalapeño porter has been a favorite at Bull Island for a little while. Brian Neville, a new brewer, made a medal-winning batch alongside outgoing brewer Paul Trail.</p><p>"He brewed it like a job interview," Reier laughed</p><p>Also winning the bronze medal was Caiseal Brewing's red ale at Vanguard Brewpub and Distillery in downtown Hampton. But unlike Bull Island, the Caiseal team has learned the news from afar.</p><p>"I worked a drag brunch at the restaurant said Amelia Emr, Director of Operations at Vanguard. “I ran into the restaurant and nobody knew that what I was conversing about I put my hands up and gave a big whoop!”</p><p><br></p>

<p>Oh, Denver — the state of sunshine!</p><p>Forget the "Old School" reference or the 300 days of sunshine in Denver folklore: there is actual, tangible and remarkable evidence for the amount of sunlight Denver has seen this summer.</p><p>On the basis of observations at Denver's official climate site, Tuesday marked Denver's first fully cloudy day in more than 4 months. That's right: Denver hadn't seen a full cloudy day since May 21 until a dreary Tuesday fulled with drizzle and low clouds.</p><p>to be the fact that, cloudy is somewhat of a subjective term; of course, since May 21 Denver has seen clouds and plenty of rainfall If you see clouds all day but a peek of sunshine at the end of the day, which, in a way, can count a non-cloudy day. Therefore, as far as this analysis is concerned, we will use that threshold: a day with completely overcast skies throughout the day, as observed at Denver International Airport. Obviously, DIA is home to the official climate observation site of the city.</p><p>Weather analysts at the DIA track cloud cover by listing hourly observations. Those can range from clear to "overcast" and/or all various precipitation modes (if you are really interested, here is a full list of possible observations). At the end of the day on the NWS' official daily climate forecast, a number of cloud conditions were applied, ranging from 0 (completely clear, not a cloud in the sky) to 10 (full cloudy skies all day).</p><p>Tuesday's "10" rating which means full cloudy skies all day was marked the first full cloudy day since May 21. May 21 might be remembered as the day that produced more than 3 inches of late-season snowfall.</p><p>How common is it to go more than 4 months without a cloudy day? Partly because of the subjective nature of the measurement of cloud conditions it is difficult to measure for sure. But here's one clue: Denver went more than three months (late June to Tuesday) without a cloudy noon observation, and Denver averaged 13 cloudy noon observations in July, August and September combined. Based on that hint alone, it's probably safe to say that it's fairly rare to go that long without a cloudy day.</p><p><br></p>

<p>I warned the folks at Urban Putt that my 2-year-old daughter and seven-year-old son will test their new mini-golf courses with the same gusto they devote to eating and playing.</p><p>That's all right, they told me, even after seeing the zeal in my kids ' eyes as they survey the room.</p><p>The Sept. 11 media preview for Urban Putt’s new Lower Downtown location — the company’s first outside of San Francisco — doubled as a test of both its staff and its pair of elaborately designed, nine-hole courses that occupy the 1st floor of the 130-year-old City Cable Railway Building.</p><p>Urban Putt poured $5 million into converting the space, wisely retaining the No. 54 trolley car from the building’s longtime gig as home to Old Spaghetti Factory. That marinara-stained icon may have received a new coat of paint, but Urban Putt is using the rest of the 12,000 square feet for whimsical, surprising and still-developing mini-golf challenges, along with a beautiful bar and lounge that serves cocktails and from-scratch comfort food.</p><p>"In the economy of experience, mini-golf is our niche said CEO Steve Fox, who happily embraces every marketing buzzword that applies to Urban Putt."There are other mini-golf courses, but I don't think anyone else is building a 40-foot indoor submarine with a functioning infrared periscope."</p><p>Fox describes Urban Putt’s aesthetic as steampunk — the sci-fi genre that mashes vintage mechanics with anachronistic historical references — but it is more accurately an interactive art playground. Since opening in San Francisco 5 years ago, Urban Putt has found success in the city’s Mission District with a 14-hole course that channels the spirit of the very fast-growing, immersive art company Meow Wolf, featuring Jules Verne-inspired props and tiny wooden versions of local landmarks.</p><p>Urban Putt started up not long after Meow Wolf did, but it’s not exactly a copy-cat. They just happen to be selling the same product: Instagram-friendly entertainment that sees art and commerce as different arms of the same “experiential” beast. Meow Wolf’s original installation, the House of Eternal Return in Santa Fe, N.M., has grown and evolved since the first opening, and now the company is plotting its takeover of cities such as Denver, Las Vegas, and Phoenix.</p><p>Urban Putt is not quite as big, weird or daring as Meow Wolf, but the tastefully bizarre, sculptural quality of its courses certainly puts it in the same league.</p><p><br></p>

And as already described in detail in this week, the front of Wednesday was particularly strong and record-breaking. </p><p>But the front line has been turned into a rush-hour dust bowl by another factor: the warm, recent run. A more warm finish of summer and the start of fall culminated in a short-term drought in a good part of Colorado. Although most of the Front is not seen to be drought, the dust has collected due to the recent dry period, because the lack of recent moisture has struggled to sprinkle the surface.</p><p>Eventually, this likely helped to build a little more ozone on the idea that the front of Wednesday was the first clear front of the seasons. Throughout the sunset, the dust storm existed and an orange hue was applied to the brown water. </p><p><br></p>

<p><br></p><p>DENVER–At the end of Thursday, Mayor Michael Hancock of Denver and six other cities and airport leaders will be in Australia and N Zealand for a nine-day stay. The trip is meant as a "strong talent market, diverse business environment and high quality of living," according to the mayor's office, "to lift awareness of Denver's offerings as a strategic, geographical location." In response to CBS4 questions, the mayor's office reported that the project will concentrate on "strategic engagement, foreign direct investment and building governance, entrepreneurship and corporate collaborations."</p><p>The Executive Director of the Denver Office of Economic Development and Employment, Hancock and Eric Hiraga, will be departing Denver Thursday night with Evan Dreyer, the Deputy Staff Chief, and two security officers.</p><p>Hancock and Hiraga travel to and from Australia, which is handled by Denver International Airport. Under airport laws, city employees are allowed, whether they travel out of the country for five hours or longer, to move to a higher class of facilities. In 2018 the prices of their revamped fares for an International business trip discovered by a CBS4 report were questioned by Hancock and the city officials.</p><p>According to the Mayor's Office, all the other travels in Australia and New Zealand will be financial and not company. The trip is funded from the city budget and the expenditure of DIA. The path calls upon the team to hold various business conferences in Melbourne, Australia by Oct. 15. The contingent first flies to Brisbane for two days before leaving for New Zealand on Oct. 19 for two days. </p><p>The team flies with only one non-city official. The Chief Financial Officer of DIA and the Vice President Air Service Management of the airport are headed on the trip towards Australia.</p><p><br></p>

<p>Christopher Columbus ' statue in San Francisco was vandalized the day before the federal holiday commemorating his arrival in the Americas in 1492.</p><p>On Sunday, city workers washed up a statue at the foot of Coit Tower on Telegraph Hill, which was coated with red paint. Graffiti on the foundation said "Destroy all genocide sites" and "Kill all colonizers."</p><p>The North Beach News posted a picture of the defaced monument; one columnist commented, "Well done. Columbus doesn't deserve any better." The case is under investigation by the San Francisco Police Department.</p><p>The New World explorer has become a polarizing figure, and Columbus monuments are often the object of vandals across the United States. On Monday, a statue in Rhode Island was splashed from head to toe with red paint. A poster reading "Stop Celebrating Genocide" was leaned against the pedestal.</p><p>Although Columbus Day is a national holiday held on the second Monday of October, many areas across the country have changed from celebrating Columbus to paying tribute to the indigenous communities who endured abuse and disease as explorers as Columbus arrived. More than 100 towns celebrate the Day of the Indigenous Peoples instead of Columbus Day.</p><p><br></p>
