As the community struggles to deal with the COVID-19 disease outbreak, Mayor Sylvester Turner participated with volunteers at a mask donation on the Sun.
"Please be careful when citizens step on," Mayor said. "The outbreak is still in our region." Turner's speech comes after Gov. Greg Abbot confirmed the rate of recoveries in the last forty-eight hours had surpassed the no. of reported infections in the state.

During a chilling clip a female reported crying for aid was rescue.
The police officers in Houston stated in a post on social media at seven o'clock in the morning. Everybody involved is being questioned on Tues.
At this point, no arrest were brought but the matter is still under inquiry.
Authorities published the footage on Mon of what they think was the kidnapping of a female in the southwest.
The footage was taken at about ten o'clock in the night on Sun, May Three, in Northern Boulevard's 2400 block.
Law enforcement officials claim bystanders mentioned of a female potentially being kidnapped near the Boulevard Buildings between Greenbriar & Kirby Road.
In the recording, uploaded on Mon to the YouTube channel of the city police Dept, a female is crying for support. Witnesses informed officers that the driver, probably a Honda, was taken in a newmodel black sedan.
Policemen on the site were unable to trace the suspect. The man was last seen heading northbound on Kirby toward the Southwest Highway according to authorities.
Authorities haven't provided further details on when or how the female was rescued.
SEVENTEEN YEAR OLD KILLED BY HIS COUSIN
A teen was murdered in what cops term an unintentional attack involving the victim's cousin on Sat night in northern east Houston.
This did happen at eleven in the night. At Shagbark near Tidwell on Sat night.
Officers confirmed the seventeen y/o was the only person inside when the bullets were fired, and his cousin, who both stay at the same residence.
The juvenile died at the site.
His cousin is in his twenties and police have interviewed him.

First-grader supplies smile to health care workers by serving ice cream
A local first-grader had taken a mission to spread smiles on the faces of health care workers in Houston.
London and her brother Tj Boyce distributed Bluebell Ice Cream mini sandwiches to all the staff members at LBJ Hospital, and London is even the new face of this ice cream.
London's family owns a Boyce Ice Cream truck, and she and all her siblings work on the truck.
London is very passionate about making others happy, and she got this idea of serving ice cream to health care workers to make them smile. She got this idea when she saw many health care staff working rigorously.
London and Tj will distribute free ice creams and popsicles to hospital staff at Houston Methodist Hospital on Monday.
Mayor Turner asks the public to follow all the guidelines eve after the reopening of the city
Many businesses had started in Texas with strict limits on capacity.
States' stay at orders had expired, and many restrictions had been loosened. However, Mayor Sylvester Turner still urged all the Houstonians to be safe and yet follow guidelines of social distancing and sanitization without taking these lightly. He had suggested wearing masks as about 25-30 per cent of positive cases are asymptotic.
The Mayor's requested the people as Abbott reported that the number of recoveries in the state had crossed the number of active cases in the past two days.
Twenty deaths were reported in Texas with 1,026 new cases of COIVD-19 on Sunday, which made this Sunday, fourth day when the state reported more than 1,000 cases.
According to Turner's announcement, % more deaths were reported in Houston on Saturday, which is the highest number of deaths in one day in Houston. Four more deaths were reported on Sunday, taking the total to 69.
Over the weekend, 188 new cases were reported for COVID-19 that made the total count 3,908.
On Sunday, Judge Lina Hidalgo requested the public to report any business violating Gov. Greg Abbott's executive orders. To this, Mayor Turner said that most people are reopening businesses cautiously.
100 Club announces assistance for the family of Police officer died in the Helicopter crash on Saturday
100 club is a non-profit organization that helps the families and dependents of police officers and firefighters who got injured or died during their duty.
The 100 Club had announced assistance for the family of the Houston Police Department Officer Jason Knox. It will present a $20,000 check to Knox's wife to help her manage some of the immediate financial needs.
Knox had died in a helicopter crash during a patrol on Saturday in Houston.
After the Club completes its assessment of Knox's families' needs, it will provide some additional financial assistance.
The 100 Club asks the Houston community to donate to "The 100 Club Survivors Fund" online for a good cause.
The total funds collected in the "Survivors Fund" go to the dependents of law enforcement officers and firefighters killed or seriously injured during their duty.
According to a release from the 100 Club, they had helped more 190 families of officers and firefighters, providing total assistance of around $23 Million.

Changes made to emergency proclamation by Stillwater mayor after small businesses faced threats
The Mayor of The Stillwater City made some required changes to the emergency safety proclamation in regards to COVID-19 on Friday after the employees of Walmart were threatened.
The emergency proclamation includes the guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19 by face covering. It requires businesses to ask their customers to wear face masks as other cities are following. However, Walmart customers became aggressive when asked to do the same and threaten the employees with violence. Police have responded to Walmart over the issue. Capt. Kyle Gibbs said no report was filed but there were similar instances resulted in physical assaults to the employees but now police have advised having face masks signboards posted inside the store.
“Additionally, the police department has also received an anonymous phone call threatening with firearms if they enforce the face-covering orders. The incident is still under investigation.” Gibbs said in an email.
Mayor Joyce too explained the reversal of proclamation on his social media saying that objections from individuals are common but threatening is completely not expected. He also apologized to the employees who faced the abuse. Adding to it he said that residents have to cooperate during such conditions.

Toronto's neighbors go outside to dance
Every day at three in the afternoon, residents of Roncesvalles go outside, line up along the sidewalk on Fermanagh Street and dance. The neighbors who used to meet in a coffee shop on the corner came up with a way to continue talking while maintaining social distance.
Donna McDougall, who taught dance at the YMCA before the pandemic, is now conducting street workshops. Every day for an hour she teaches her neighbors to dance linear dances. “I think they like it. They come every day, ”said McDougall.At first, Donna taught dance classes twice a week, now she does it every day. “For me it's not just an hour. I need to prepare a playlist, learn a dance, change it, but this is what makes me get up off the couch, ” Donna said.
“It's great. Thanks to COVID-19 and Donna, my fitness has improved, ” said Betty Kerschner. Other neighbors say dancing on the street brings together. Dancers line up at least six feet apart. “We are at a distance from each other, but we are social,” says Donna.
McDougall says that after the pandemic will continue to conduct dance lessons on the street.
