Housing affordability has become the number one concern for artists in Los Angeles.
Housing affordability has become the num Los Angeles
Los Angeles, United States Of America
Los Angeles, the city of dreams, is in the middle of cultural and economic revival, with the endless construction, which is transforming the city’s long-somnolent downtown alongside the emergence of new arts institutions and museums.
On the downside of this evolution is continued and unhindered development, which is now pressurizing the most vulnerable populations. The artist who makes up the essential part of the city’s throbbing foundation.
The study of (Re) inventing the Dream: Policies and Practices for Keeping Artists in Los Angeles by Allison Agsten is built upon the survey responses from 763 artists in Los Angeles County along with about 30 artist advocates, cultural workers, and policy experts.
According to the survey, 34% of respondents reported being displaced from their homes because of the rising costs within the last two years, while according to 89%, housing affordability was a grave concern, and 90% reported the same of studio affordability.
