“Kinaesonata” to be revived for the Los Angeles Dance Festival
“Kinaesonata” to be revived for the Los Los Angeles
Los Angeles, United States Of America
Bella Lewitzky was one of the most famous Californian choreographers know for her unique style. Kinaesonata, which has not been staged from the last 20 years, was one of her best works. It is being revived for LA Dances, which is a festival at LA Dance Project. Kinaesonata, which was staged by Walter Kennedy, who is a former Lewitzky dancer, is a revelation. In this 1970 piece, there are insistent rhythms and atonal lyricism of Alberto Ginastera’s Piano Sonata No. 1. The deeply rooted dance moves have grounded quality, which gives the feel of its time. Lewitzky’s company was disbanded in 1997, after which her work rarely appears on the stage. This revival will provide her with much-needed tribute.
