Nikhil Ramachandran has invented a new c Los Angeles
Nikhil Ramachandran has invented a new chemical composition that filters viruses and helps in reducing fog
In an example of exemplary innovation, Nikhil Ramachandran, a Grade 12 student has developed a novel polymer component with nanoparticles that can filter viruses and absorb air pollutants. This is a special, finely dispersed formulation of a high viscous multifunctional polymer in water. The product contains antimicrobial and antiviral agents which make it suitable for application in air filters, disposable and non-disposable masks and other fabrics. Nikhil has now applied for a patent for the product, which is cost-effective and is consulting manufacturers to introduce it in the market and commercialise the same. He is also looking at getting statutory approvals as well as a distribution network and has started a proprietary company called NOVIC.
“The news about the disruption of life due to atmospheric fog in Delhi and surrounding areas bothered me especially due to adverse effects on respiratory health. I found that the disposable mask was not a solution as most pollutants pass through the mask and hence I was looking for a compound which could absorb fog causing chemical agents and this search led me to the work I undertook. The recent COVID-19 pandemic has further prompted me to scale up my research,” said Nikhil.
The product was developed in the course of engaging with different compounds at his father’s chemical factory in Peenya after extensive research and analysis for 4 months. He would visit the factory after school hours as he was deeply interested in polymers, compounds and the need to fight viruses. The product’s emulsion is extremely stable and is ready-to-use. It has excellent wetting and spreading properties that enables the formation of a thin coating. The product can be used in the form of a spray or a solution in which a mask or handkerchief can be dipped. The chemical then absorbs all the oxides - nitrogen, sulphur and carbon- and eliminates viruses, which is the need of the hour. Since masks and handkerchiefs are being used extensively by people, the product would act as a filter of cleanliness and improve the hygiene factor by its absorption capacities. The product provides protection from virus, fungi, and other pathogens and contains an antiviral agent which is effective against SARS COVID 19. It can be used by the air filter, mask and sanitizer manufacturers.
“The initial results excited me and the more I discussed with my mentors, the more they encouraged me to pursue development of the product. The availability of time along with school assignments were challenges I had to overcome while working on the product. In the future, I am looking to pursue an advanced degree in chemical or biochemical sciences/engineering and wish to develop many more innovative products,” added Nikhil.
This isn't the first time Nikhil has done something unique, earlier along with Dr.Roy Varghese of Kentucky ARH.
They have together published a paper on the potential use of yoghurt in treatment of Irritable Bowel Syndrome in IJCMR (International Journal of Contemporary Medical Research).
Nikhil Ramachandran has been mentioned in several newspapers and magazines over the past few weeks for his new product. According to recent sources , Nikhil Ramachandran plans to commercialize his product

People trying to find a safe place during the pandemic
At a when everyone is considered for a safe place to live, Simon talks about her search for assisted living facilities which started during the early stages of COVID-19. Simon turned to LeeAnn Allman, an eldercare specialist, who first tries to understand the need of the family, their concerns and that determine the place best suited for them.
The number of investigations in top-notch nursing homes, the previous year, in L.A. had increased to 5,000, and these numbers existed before the pandemic. The numbers made the county Board of Supervisors request for an inspector general to oversee skilled nursing facilities.
Terry McGhee, along with his family, ate taking care of 150 people in over 20 board-and-care homes, as a part of St. Jude's Home for the Elderly. No positive COVID-19 case has been reported among the residents as well as the staff involved in those facilities. He advises to beware of the facilities and people, who do not check the history, do not ask questions and offer to take people to earn some extra money.
Also, West Covina's Regency Grand has not reported any positive cases among the residents and its Co-founder Tom Stanley says that they are following safety protocols which include testing for staff and residents.

Nancy Pelosi Accuses Republicans of Murdering George Floyd... 'Heinous' says Tim Scott
The May 25th 2020 incident that rocked (and still rocks) the world was one of the ugliest and most inhumane it has seen. It was indeed murder most foul. There seems to be no debate on that particular ruling. Everyone knows what's what in that which Derek Chauvin did to George Floyd.
However, our reinstalled Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi has decided to lay the charge for George's death on the Republican Senate and, by proxy, those who voted for them. The party is confirmed by a Wikipedia article as making up 30% of our population, with Democrats at 31% and Independents at 36%.
Ms. Pelosi has just demonstrated what partisan politics is in its corruption - rotten to the core. She in her desperate attempt to solidify the Liberal and Black vote has slandered nearly one-third of Americans in the least - and more of us if Independents who are also Conservative are counted.
The affected Senators naturally demanded her apology. She refused with, "Absolutely, positively not...", and in regard to the Rebublican-launched police reform bill stated, "The press has given them so much play for this unsalvageable piece of legislation and then say, ‘well, can’t you compromise with that?’ No, it’s because it is no and we are yes. So when they admit that and have some suggestions that are worthy of consideration, but so far they were trying to get away with murder, actually. The murder of George Floyd."
How dare Ms. Polosi level such a baseless allegation? Those to whom she is opposed proposed the legislation when there was no remedy, current or contingent, in place. How can she impugn the Representatives who stand for so many with the indictment of premeditated homicide? How can she say that so many of her peers and countrymen are beyond cold and be that frigid herself?
It's obvious that what happened to George Floyd greatly offended sensibilities around the globe - to the extent that it sparked global protests (and riots). Its devastating impact is clear. Why wouldn't virtually all of Mr. Floyd's fellow Americans (and humans) be just as upset?
The Speaker's misstatements threaten to devide this county more than ever before - and tear it to shreds - to a greater degree than the massive post-riot destruction of property did. Senator Tim Scott, a Black man from South Carolina said, “When Speaker Pelosi says one of the most heinous things I can imagine: that the Republicans are actually trying to cover up murder, the murder of George Floyd with our legislation, that’s not politics. That’s not a game to win. That’s you lose. You will sooner or later lose. But immediately every kid around the nation that heard that nonsense lost that moment."
Those who are less than legally or politically savvy fail to realize that sometimes bills contain "deadly clauses" that defeat the purpose of what's on their face. Depending on the severity of the adverse inclusions, certain proposals cannot be voted in with good conscience. However, it's not readily apparent what would keep this measure at bay; especially since Democrats flatly refused to formally debate any of its issues. Would-be legislation almost always sees weeks or months of argumentation before going to a vote. A factor maybe Senator Mitch McConnell's cloture, which called for action much sooner than expected. But given the fact that what is at hand is also a national emergency it would be the time to hash things out.
Blacks and many others on both sides of the political aisle still draw much offense from Senator and Vice-President Joe Biden's 1994 crime bill, entitled "The Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994". Wikipedia says, "It is the largest crime bill in the history of the United States and consisted of 356 pages that provided for 100,000 new police officers, $9.7 billion in funding for prisons and $6.1 billion in funding for prevention programs, which were designed with significant input from experienced police officers." Said was sponsored by Representative Jack Brooks of Texas and signed in by President Bill Clinton.
How quickly we forget history!
And remember... You can't have your cake and eat it too.

COVID-19: Osun SSG tests positive as State records 10 new cases – Commissioner for Health
…Says Community transmission likely in Ilesa axis
The Government of the State of Osun on Tuesday confirmed that its Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prince Wole Oyebamiji, has tested positive for Coronavirus.
The State’s Commissioner for Health, Dr. Rafiu Isamotu, who made this known through a press statement in Osogbo on Tuesday, also confirmed the discovery of 10 additional cases in the State.
Dr Isamotu was however quick to add that one patient had equally been discharged after testing negative for the virus.
The Commissioner noted that one of the reasons for the sudden rise in the Covid-19 cases in State was largely due to the nonchalant attitude of citizens and residents of the State to laid-down precautionary measures against the spread of the virus.
Isamotu also hinted that there are strong reasons to believe the State now has community transmission around Ilesa axis of the State, warning that unless citizens and residents change their ways, government might be forced to impose another lockdown on the State.
While noting that the 11 new cases were from the contact tracing of previous cases in the State, the Health Commissioner also revealed that with the latest development, the number of confirmed cases in the State has risen to 127 with 74 active cases.
“If you observe, our cases have been on the rise consistently in the last two weeks or so. The reason is simple. Our people are beginning to be too casual about the spread of the virus. The lack of strict adherence to safety protocols and guidelines is one of the main reasons for the rise. As a matter of fact, we are beginning to suspect that we have community transmission around Ilesa axis.
“Government is reviewing the cases. Soon, we shall announce other stricter measures to contain the spread of the virus in that axis.
“Today, we intensified our enforcement drive. All those arrested were made to go through a compulsory course on Covid-19 preventive protocols. We will go a step further by setting up a mobile court to try and sentence violators of safety protocols and guidelines. We must collectively join hands with the government to contain the spread of the virus.
“Also, I want to confirm to you that our SSG and some of the staff around him have tested positive to the virus. But they are all in stable condition and are receiving adequate medical care.
“With the latest development, the number of our active cases as at today, Tuesday, June 30, is 74. We have 127 confirmed cases, out of which the State has successfully treated and discharged 48 patients while five deaths have been recorded,” Dr. Isamotu added.
Olabode Olajumoke : A standard for future Leaders with public Responsibilities
Tribute to an outstanding lawyer with classical endowment @76
The national character of every nation is defined by her people, resources and more significantly those assigned to mine national interests at both social-economic fronts.
As the most populated black nation in the world, Nigeria’s history and national experiences were shaped by the collective commitment of institutions, groups and individuals . These individuals mostly emerged on different interests and orientations into systems of governance and public civility at various levels of national engagement. While a large bloc of these groups and individuals were consumed by the aura of their responsibilities through an appaling abuse of public trust , a micro group of nationalists remains steadfast to the national breakthroughs of our nation and remained unchanged with the paraphernalia of the public responsibilities in their care . The unique talent and time spent by this ‘’micro group’’ over the course of national responsibility distinguished them as indicative standards for propelling any nation to prosperity. Thinking from the perspective of history among the micro group is ‘’Olabode Wilfred Olajumoke’’ , an Ondo born Former Federal Civil Servant , veteran Lawyer, lawmaker, Philantropist and a Scout leader ; who was preciously gifted to his Imeri parents of Emaloko clan , a yoruba speaking community in Ondo State today 76 years ago. His father was late Natalia Omeselu Olajumoke , a retired civil servant who also worked at the Nigerian Raillways .His late mother was Elizabeth Oyerolawe Omoselu, a mother who understood what Olabode did not say .
Bode Olajumoke had his primary education at St Mathew primary school, Imeri. He holds an LL.M PH.D Law from Moscow and Edinbhurg and B.L. from the Nigerian Law School. After over 24 years of cognate working Commitments in the Federal Civil Service where he retired. He joined the cause of expanding the abyss of a greater Nigeria at the Nation’s Senate where he made remarkable commitments to the cause of advancing the national legislative priorities of the new democratic dispensation in 1999 .
Superitending on these two sensitive public responsibilities was a testimony and a clear manifestation of his expressed understanding of public ethos ; his choice was endorsed naturally by mostly youths with whom he has served pre-eminently as a scout leader. Olajumoke who became an house hold name in Nigeria had an outstanding journey in every public duty, inspiring a clear and unified approach to governance through self discipline and keeping process -integrity.
He is what novelist Jeffery Archer would theatrically describe as the “First Among Equals,’ but has never been consumed by the aura and paraphernalia of his office. His mission and focus from the outset was how to serve his fatherland perfectly by bringing out the best in available material and human resources at his disposal to curb the numbing Nigeria State through teaching disciplined lifestyle that leaves a lasting memory in everyone that came across him.
Professionally as a Lawyer, Olajumoke’s advocacy clearly distinguish him as a genius whose publications inspire deep thinking and actions especially on socio-political themes.
He believes strongly that the cause of justice can be effectively served by ensuring the principles of liberty, due process and freedom of people and nations . Olajumoke’s patriotic leadership began from cradle as a member of the Boys Scout movement where scouting prepared him to be a leader of character, discipline and courageous belonging. His halo-effects began to rob positively on the World Organization of Scout Movement (WOSM), the world’s largest educational youth movement with over 50million young people globally especially on the African sub-region, who occasionally also craved for his wise counsels to surmount Scouting problems in their countries. He was elected at the General assembly of the movement in august 2018 as the Vice Chairperson, National Scout Board of Nigeria Scouts. Olajumoke, a gentleman who consistently adorns himself in friendly, youngish and inviting outlooks founded the Mission to save the helpless (MITOSATH) a humanitarian NGO incorporated in march 1996 with the mission of promoting health development, reliefs on poverty and deprivation ; particularly fighting tropical diseases among the under-priviledged . Olajumoke postured himself before the other fraternal brothers battling the same cause in the service of humanity through sponsorship of people with special needs, scouting volunteerism and fending for orphans through his doctrine of in-locu-parentis.
What astounded his subordinates infinitely was his flexibility and eagerness to accept worthwhile suggestions, reforms or innovations that were capable of improving the Nigerian Society whilst keeping extraordinary commitment to every cause of positive national action.
As a symbol of extreme sense of integrity, Olajumoke never joked with time when it came to casual and statutory appointments, he was always ahead of scheduled appointments and kept the purpose of every appointment, timely and scrupulous.
As you celebrate another auspicious occasion of your new age, we rededicate ourselves to your footprints and other values led by you.
As a nation, we remain grateful for your humanitarian services and huge investment in enabling the under-priviledged to have a better life.
