Plans to ensure reopening of the state Los Angeles
Plans to ensure reopening of the state
With the growing scenario of the COVID-19 natives of Los Angeles are concerned about the stay at home orders. A general question that is in everyone’s mind is when will the stay at home order be lifted. On Friday, a four-point plan was revealed by Kathryn Barger, chair of the county Board of supervisors, which will be needed to ensure that the order of staying at home could be lifted.
The four-point plan is -
Capacity in the health care system
Barger said This point includes ensuring enough testing ventilators, professional staffing, and all necessary medical supplies to handle routine care and preparation for the more worst condition
Protection for those at risk
The second point is to make sure that protection to the people who are more vulnerable to the virus such as the older people, homeless people and those who can not get access to the service
Increased capability to isolate, test and trace
To avoid any second wave of the pandemic enough testing and tracing of people who are suffering from the virus is further essential isolation of patients will also play a very crucial role in letting the higher authorities to think of reopening.
We are maintaining physical distancing
To protect the natives of Los Angeles, the idea to maintain physical distance is being promoted by the higher authorities so that the risk of getting infected reduces.

Salon and hairstylists demand essential service status to reopen their businesses in California
Many small businesses had been affected due to Stay-at-home orders, and salons are one hardest hit. It was deemed "non-essential," many were forced to close salons even after having some of the most strict regulations of sanitization and cleanliness.
Now there are many petitions filed in California, and the nation, asking hairstyling should be deemed as an essential service, so they can reopen their business while following all the cleanliness and safety norms.
Corina Garcia, the owner of the Style Lounge in Pasadena, said, "We can take precaution and take one client at a time. So that we can get people feeling good about themselves, creating that energy again back in the world."
Chris Bair, the owner of Shorty's Barbershop in West Hollywood, said, "We do have a very high standard of cleaning and disinfecting after every client."
According to the petition, all the salons and barbershops will follow all the recommendations put forth by the state, including face mask and gloves worn all the time and one client at a time with breaks for sanitization between two clients.
"We take one client at a time and in between clients allowing 15-20 minutes of just sanitizing," said Garcia. "I take this very seriously... I want to be able to open my doors so I can get my rent covered because eventually this is all going to go away and I still want to keep my business."
Torrance man suspected for stealing medication
Christopher Mencia, aged 36, is being suspected of stealing thousands of dollars worth of a controversial medication that has been touted for possible treatment for COVID-19. Christopher Mencias is accused of taking more than 700 tablets of hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin, which is valued at $6700. President Donald Trump has touted these two medications have proven to be an effective treatment of COVID-19, but results so far are inconclusive.
There is a group of people who have improved because of drugs. However, there is not sufficient evidence that can describe the two drugs as a possible treatment. One of the studies has even reported that a higher death rate was recorded among the group of people who were treated with these two drugs.
It was reported by the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office that Agustin had stolen the tablets twice from the hospital on different occasions. Hospitals have tightened their attention to the monitoring of this medication so that any further missing of the drugs could be avoided. An official from the hospital said that an inventory noticed the missing quantity of the drugs and notified the hospital authorities. On investigating the incident, Agustin has been arrested on March 31 for grand theft. He has now been held instead of $100,000 bail. If convicted, he can face four years and a four-month jail sentence.
Delivery drivers also playing an important role in the state
Due to health guidelines against COVID-19 people are maintaining social distancing. This has lead to work from and attending lectures online; therefore, in the current scenario, the work of the delivery driver is becoming very crucial.
UPS delivery driver Steven Lopez said that he is working about 11-12 hours every day with his gloves and mask on so that he does not get infected. He said that the current period for him and his fellow delivery driver is hectic, probably same as that at the time of Christmas however, he added that he is very proud of himself for serving the residents of California by the necessities.
UPS is ensuring the safety of its delivery driver by providing them with all the protective equipment. In the middle of the pandemic Amazon, FedEx and the United States Postal Service have reported increased demand.
Lopez said that he has observed that most of the packages which he has to deliver are care packages. These packages are mostly for elderly people, and often there is a note on these packages such as ‘‘take care grandma, take care auntie,’’
Lopez thinks that although he is not a healthcare worker or first responder, he has a very crucial role to play. He also said that he was used to thanking the police forces, but now it’s the other way around.

Amid the pandemic fashionable masks sets up a trend
As the pandemic continues, natives of the state are following the health guidelines provided by the higher authorities. One such guideline was to wear masks; however, a new trend of the fashionable mask is taking place in the lockdown period. Clothing designer Troy Anthony said after the COVID-19 outbreak, he had to think in an unorthodox way so that he could provide company employee’s payroll there. He decided to get a tailor-made face mask to stay safe and help others. Anthony has decided to merge with pearian shirt makers in orange county, C, so that he could keep the productivity on. Varak armoudian, the founder of pearian shirt makers, said that he was very hopeful of working with Anthony and had faith that the partnership would work. He further said that we would be able to support our employees from the sale of the masks. Anthony said that manufacturing masks could be of great scope in the future as masks can be a part of normal life for a long time.
Hollywood’s program provide help to pets if the pet parents can’t care of them in present conditions
A program from Hollywood named Animal Rescue Mission, also known as ARM, that helps people who had been tested positive for COVID-19. The ARM COVID-19 Animal Support Program was started in April, to take care of the pets of the people who are suffering from COVID-19.
Pet parents can sign up on ARM's website by writing the profile for their pet about food, medicine, and any other instructions.
"There are directions for how to put together a two-week emergency kit for them. And then basically, should you get sick, and you will text us or email us. And immediately that would send one of our volunteers up to their home and get their animal, or however they needed our help in any way," said Shira Scott, founder of ARM. Scott, who started ARM in 2018, says that many people are reaching out to her to take care of their pets. "It's scary if you get sick right now and all of a sudden you have to leave and you know, people don't have backup plans or, you know, a lot of people in LA they don't have a family.
"I get texts about 50 times a day from people, checking in today to see if, 'You have a dog I could foster,'" Scott continued. Initially, it was only for the people suffering from the disease, but now they extending services to those on the frontline also.
Forced by the scenario, police officer started shooting
In an investigation in the area of 32nd and San Pedro Street, police were called for investigating an incident. One of the police officers decided to include firing, which has caused the death of the suspect. In addition to multiple evidence markers indicating bullet casing, a covered body was visible at the site. There were several damaged vehicles also present at the site.
A thought of having the injured women in the suspect’s vehicle before the incident is also focused. The details of the scenario which caused the office to open fir are not disclosed yet.

Nurses protest at the university of Chicago medical center
Due to unsafe work condition a group of nurses were found protesting outside the university of Chicago medical center on Thursday. ICU nurse Cassandra Callaway from university of Chicago said that they are physically and mentally exhausted. She further explained about the challenges health care worker have to face against COVID-19 and how 30 of her fellow nurses have already been infected due to the virus. She also claimed that many of her fellow nurses are thrown into the situation with only minimal preparation. The group with National Nurses United is in talks with the medical center's chief nursing officers to get their reserves nurses trained properly. However, all efforts till now have been wasted as the nurses have received no response. In response to the health care workers the university of Chicago medical center said that UCMC amid the pandemic has already guaranteed wages and benefits for every employee even if they are not having any work to do.
Callaway said that the nurses are dealing with something they have not experienced yet. The patients are highly unpredictable and unstable.
Republicans blame economic breakdown on Democratic Governors
As the economy and health both are going through a massive crisis, Republicans across the states are trying to lay the blame for the economic breakdown on Democratic governors, ramping up a strategy for the presidential elections. Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania — are all laid by Democratic governors. The Republican lawmakers of the state are blaming the actions of stay-at-home orders or business shutdowns as the work of overzealous, nanny-state Democrats. In Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, the GOP legislature is trying to strip the democratic governors of power so that they can impose restrictions on businesses.
The stay-at-home order was passed by both the Republican and Democratic governors, amide the advice from the state and federal health officials and guidance from President Trump. But the clash is occurring as many Republican governors are easing the orders and reopening the businesses to boost the economy, led by Trump. Republicans are trying to position themselves as defenders of the economy, even if they have to risk the health of the public. The hard-line messages are marked as the arrival of a contentious phase as the political fight over who to blame for the economic fall, and this could even be a political disaster for Republicans if the job does not return by November and Trump will be blamed for unemployment.
