New York's 'Bail Reform' Is Having Detrimental Impacts, Especially on the Jewish Community
After the stabbing attack on a Jewish congregation party to celebrate Hanukkah on Saturday night, the New York State's new "bail reform" initiative has once again been cast into the spotlight.
Following 1st Jan, the criminals who were charged with the most misdemeanors and Class E felonies will be discharged from the jail, without even having to post a bond or cash.
The Albany Democrat said, "Our goal is not to criminalize poverty by keeping people in the jail just because they can not afford to pay for the bail and get out.
Since some felonies and crimes, like assault, theft, and aggravated harassment, are not eligible for cash bail, so law enforcement officials and the district attorneys across the state took issue with the initiative.
As anti-Semitism proceeds to rise, New York City Councilmen Kalman Yegar and Chaim Deutsch have regularly spoken out against the initiative.
Councilman Deutsch has also issued a petition for New Yorkers to express their concern over the new criminal justice reform initiative.

The median sales price is close to $257,400, which is approx 5.4% more than the previous year. There is also a lack of supply, which is not a good sign for home shoppers. The number of properties available for sale in November has come down by 5.7% in comparison to the previous year.
