US-IRAN TENSIONS ESCALATE AFTER SOLEIMANI’S ASSASSINATION
Since Iran has been aiming to acquire a nuclear weapon, there is a serious debate going around the globe. Recently, a serious dispute took place when the topmost general of Iran, General Soleimani, was assassinated in the ballistic missile attacks conducted by the US. After the death of the Iraqi General, they have vowed for revenge against the US and also threatened to attack base camps of their armies. Both the states are going through a very dispute and due to their dispute whole region is under threat of war and further escalation might result in the start of world war 3.
US president Mr. Trump has said in a Twitter post that all is well after Iraq launched missiles over American base camps. Trump also mentioned that there were no fatalities and the destruction was insignificant. He also declared that additional economic sanctions will be posted immediately on Iran while keeping the room open for cooperation with the Iranian government. On the other hand, the killing of General Soleimani has been justified by the US Ambassador Kelly Craft in the letter sent to the United Nations Security Council under Article 51 of the United Nations Charter.
