San Francisco and Oakland may reduce the voting age on some municipal ballot issues to 16 years.

City Council President Rebecca Kaplan authored the Oakland Youth Vote measure, which received support from Mayor Libby Schaaf and other city leaders.

The measure will be done for the November ballot, and if the results turned out to be good, the city might adopt it. By adopting this, Oakland will become the fifth city in the nation to allow a minimum of 16- year-old voters. Voters already passed a similar measure in Berkeley in 2016.

According to the office of board president Norman Yee, the measure would make San Francisco the first major city in the U.S. that allows minimum 16-year-old voters to vote.

According to the proposed charter amendment, the young voters have to qualify for all the criteria for voter registration and have to register with the city Department of Elections to vote.

Many cities are looking forward to lowering the voting age to create an early habit to vote and gaining momentum on the state level.

Visitors in Hawaii continuously increase

As per Hawaii Tourism Authority, around 363 outsiders visited the state on Thursday and made up to 30% of 1203 total tourists. The count included 72% of 262 passengers who came to visit family or friends, 6% for vacation and 11% for business reasons. 332 residents, 140 airline crew members, 75 military personnel, 111 relocating to Hawaii, 151 transit passengers were also among the incoming passengers. Officers are urging people to follow the emergency orders, including gatherings of not more than ten people and six feet distance unless of the same family.

President Donald Trump has deemed church services essential. Yet Wichita churches stay cautious with the reopening plans. Reverend Jeff Gannon with Chapel Hill United Methodist Church says that as a pastor, if a person falls sick, transmits to another and eventually dies, it is on him. The Alter Church is looking forward for its congregation on May 31. The pastor of the Altar Church informed that the church would reopen from Pentecost Sunday, a week after March 31. For people cannot attend church, the pastors understand their hesitation and thus will be continuing their live streaming along with the reopening.

22-year-old woman missing while driving from Virginia to Texas

A 22-year-old lady, Rachel McGregor was travelling from Newport News to San Antonio, Texas and stopped at New Orleans. As per reports, she went to an electronics store in the 900 block, Poydas Street, to get her cellphone repaired and the NOPD officers told that McGregor used the store’s landline to call a person who filed the missing report of McGregor when she did not contact again by 11:30 pm. Since Friday morning McGregor is missing, vehicle was not available, and her whereabouts are also not known.

En tanto, 18 casos fueron de transmisión comunitaria.  El mandatario venezolano alertó sobre un nuevo foco de contagio registrado en el Mercado Las Pulgas en el Zulia, estado fronterizo con Colombia.  Sobre la situación sanitaria del país, Maduro expresó que existe la cantidad de camas necesarias para los pacientes que necesiten ingreso hospitalario como consecuencia de la Covid-19.
