Turn streets into slow streets for public health and check the spread of Corona
On March 16, Bay area counties issued an order named shelter-in-place that is an emergency measure to avoid the spread of Coronavirus. This order involves closure of non-essential businesses, and residents are asked to stay at their home and practice social distancing. These measures have succeeded in many regions. Our local elected officials deserve n appreciation for their quick decisions.
Now is the time for mayors to take decisive action of designating hundreds of miles of "slow streets."
Slow streets are ordinary streets that have been closed to through traffic with signs and traffic cones at each intersection. (Residents can still drive to and from their homes). On these slow streets, Bay area residents can walk, jog, or roll wheelchairs on the traffic lane. These lanes also provide enough space for the people to maintain social distancing. Due to COVID-19, the number of cars on the road had decreased significantly, reducing the number of accidents and pedestrian fatalities to almost zero in the Bay Area.
As the transport services had reduced, these slow streets can help essential workers to walk and bike to their jobs safely. Cities like San Jose, San Francisco and Los Angeles have already had great success with temporary street closures with programs like Viva CalleSJ, Sunday Streets, and CicLAvia, respectively. Now, these programs should be taken to a grand scale and not just on the weekend. These slow roads can also help people to keep themselves fit and healthy by walking and running and avoiding any chronic diseases due to obesity.

This work is headed by Tamar Allen who works as BART's chief maintenance and engineering officer. As trains to are running on relaxed schedules currently Caltrans headed to working in electrification project. Allen the head of the project mentions that the crew is being provided with 55 gallons of water
to and soap to ensure proper hand washing also more vehicles are being dispatched to ferry workers to and from job sites to maintain physical distancing. Before the start of the shift the usual crowding of the crew is also kept in check and N95 masks are provided to the workers. Pizzerias return to their service in Naples
One of the most iconic and most visited food outlets in Naples, pizzerias, returned to their service on Monday night. Pizzerias under the restrictions are allowed for home delivery only.
Although pizzerias in Rome were already allowed for take-out and delivery service in Naples, the higher authorities did not permit pizzerias to operate in Naples because Naples is a high-density which had the probability of quickening the spreading of infections. Campania's inability to handle a large number of patients forced the governor of Vincenzo De Luca to strict lockdown measures. However in Campania, only half on the infected patients needed to be hospitalized
As Italy seeks to reopen, the ban on pizza delivery is lifted. The ban on home deliveries from bars, pastry shops, ice-cream parlors, and restaurants has also been lifted as a step towards gradual reopening.
Giovanni Pezzuto, the owner of Neapolitan pizzeria, gave his opinions on the recent steps and said that "Surely this is a little restart for the entrepreneurs, important for us and for our region, our city, and our nation." It should be noted that the allowing of home delivery is only a step towards reopening and not complete reopening. Natives of Italy will be allowed to place an order through the phone so that social gather could be avoided. There are certain guidelines that are needed to follow. Pizzeria must ensure that its employees wear a mask and gloves. The pizzerias also need to be sanitized regularly.

According to officials even though Italy suffered most fatalities from COVID-19, the highest in Europe but still Campania could manage a low outbreak of the virus because Campania is in the region closer to the foot of the boot-shaped Italian peninsula because the government took the decision of locking down the whole country at the right time.
