Amid Coronavirus Outbreak, New Jersey Residents Ordered to Stay Home
Due the growing of COVID-19, New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy had ordered the residents of his state to stay back at home in order to maintain social distance and fight against the pandemic.
His order includes: banning the physical existence of non-essential retail businesses and allowing employees to work from home when it’s possible. An assurance of providing essential social services and medical facilities for the entire state and the town was also made available. Though it pains the honour to impose such orders, this time cannot be taken to maintain a sense of business as it’s necessary to maintain the public health.
Moving out for essential business and recreational activities would be allowed but should continue practice social distancing and six feet away from one another.
As the Governor had telegraphed his decision a day prior, it had moved the Governors of other states such as California, Illinois and New York.
With these, the governor had also asked for $100 billion in federal aid to fight against the virus and the financial strain that would be caused by the stay back home order, as they can’t let the disease run it’s course.

Philly faces lockdown due to virus
As world battles became a common enemy COVID-19, the Mayor of Philadelphia, Jim Kenny ordered stay-at-home for the entire city in an attempt to slow the spread of novel virus.
Philadelphia MD Brian Abernathy said during a news conference “The order comes into effect from Monday at 8 a.m. prohibiting any public or private gathering with certain exceptions”.
The exceptions included those involved in outdoor activities like walking, running, cycling, and operating a wheelchair ,delivery of food or essential goods and takeout for orders made online or by phone along with life-sustaining services.
The order only applies to the city of Philadelphia and does not list any specific penalties for those who violate the order. Kenny however made it clear that it would be considered defiance of law though he is reluctant to have people arrested for violated his decree.
It is hoped that people will take it upon themselves to follow order as it is in interest for their own greater good. If authorities do encounter large groups, they will “intervene [and] remind them to go home,” Abernathy said.
Both the leaders urged the people to understand and recognize that COVID-19 is serious.
Coronavirus Cases in NJ Jump to 427
In New Jersey, the number of coronavirus cases has increased dramatically with two more people dying because of it. 160 more cases have been announced by Gov. Phil Murphy on Wednesday. This has brought the state to a total of 427. Furthermore, he confirmed that 5 people have now died after contracting the virus. The two new deaths were of women aged more than 60.
Of all the new cases, 3 were from Atlantic County. The first case came from South Jersey county while three were found in Burlington County, six were found in Mercer County, five were found in Camden County and four in Ocean County. Among the add-on cases, Cape May County reported its first case.
Since Sunday, all COVID-19 cases in the Garden State has detonated from handfuls to hundreds as all the more testing is finished.
Until now, the most cases have been in North Jersey, the principal positive test in the state was accounted for on March 4, health authorities said.
To Help Coronavirus Fallout, Temporary Food Pantry Created By Woman in Northeast Philly
With the coronavirus outbreak continuing, many Philadelphians came back to start their work, however, Piseitta Arrington started working for all those who are facing food insecurity. A temporary food pantry was set up by Arrington in Northeast Philadelphia. This was done to ensure assistance for all those facing unemployment because of Coronavirus pandemic. The distribution of food started on Wednesday. Arrington has always come forward to help the community. Back in 2013, they set up a non-profit. This was done to aid homeless women and children from their hometown of Chester, Pennsylvania. This group, Sisterhood for Women in Motion, have now grown continuously and a partnership with the Caring for Friends pantry has been created successfully.
Each week, Arrington delivers food to her home and then provide it all those who need it. To serve 42 families in Chester, their nonprofit worked in association with the Refuge Church, 15 days ago. By early afternoon, they provide food to 30 families on Tabour Avenue from their location.

As per the horse track, the person who came to attend the 7th March 2020 track wasn’t tested positive. However, the track officials told that live racing that was scheduled for this week and the following week would be canceled until further notice.
Disabled 27-year-old locked in Bathroom for 1 year
Reckless endangerment charges have become applicable to a caregiver in New Jersey. This was done when it was found out by the police that a mentally disabled 27-year-old woman was locked in a bathroom with no windows for nearly a year.
The name of the caregiver is Lisa Bullock-DeLorenzo, and she is 42-years-old. As of now, she is charged for putting the welfare of a disabled person at danger, criminal restraint along with other related charges. The officers found that the woman who was locked in the bathroom only had a towel and a bowl of food. The bathroom was 5x8-foot, Pennsville Police Department Chief Allen Cummings said.
According to Cummings, Bullock-DeLorenzo loved in the home located on Riviera Drive with a 30-year-old man who also has mental disabilities along with the woman and two brothers who were in their 20s. When their original adoptive mother died due to cancer, she adopted all of them.
It was also found out that the bathroom had a non-working toilet, and the woman was forced to use diapers when she had to relieve herself. In Cummings's words, "It's horrendous. Most of us have kids, and to see someone being treated like this, it's just not right."
As of now, the mentally disabled have been taken to a hospital for treatment while the man was also removed from the premises. Pending a court appearance, Bullock-DeLorenzo was released.

Silver lining amid the crisis : preschooler get’s her own birthday parade
Olivia Grace Williamson is a resident of Elgin, Illinois who was surprised to get her personal car parade, on her fifth birthday this year. Olivia is a preschooler and she usually celebrates her birthday in her classroom. She wears a crown and her older brother reads a book to her class.
Unfortunately, this year, she couldn’t do so due to the pandemic. But, her mother, Jennifer Williamson, a fifth-grade teacher requested her neighbours on the neighbourhood Facebook group to drive by and wish Olivia a Happy Birthday.
To her surprise, there were 64 jam-packed vehicles that drove by that day. This was because most parents were working from home. Williamson reported, “It was a continuous 30 minute parade and it was so cute.” Olivia has two older brothers and their basketball and football teammates participated too.
Although Olivia Grace is unable to understand the enormity of the COVID-19 pandemic but a personal car parade on her birthday left her happy and content.
Williamson said "It’s amazing to see people come together, and to know that we’re in this together. It's not easy. People drove along, singing Happy Birthday with their windows opened."
Girl hospitalized after being rescued from floodwaters
On this Friday a Flood from the Licking River struck the surrounding areas of Licking county, Newark, Ohio. The emergency team was working efficiently to lessen the damage caused by the flood, the team was working to rescue those who got stuck in the flood and could not manage to find a chance to escape. One such case was witnessed in Donovan Drive at around 11 o’clock in the morning. The strange fact was that the one who was rescued was not aged enough to be left alone in such a situation as there was no chance that a 2 year old girl could make it out on her own out of a flooded area. So came a saviour to her rescue, an emergency personnel rescued her from the floodwaters and took her to the Licking Memorial Hospital yet her condition is still unknown.
Gov. Abbott: Ready to take more strict actions on COVID - 19
There has been 79 positive cases of COVID 19 and the number may increase with time if necessary actions not taken. In reference to the ongoing world crisis the Governor of the Austin-travis county , Greg Abbott held a press conference on Sunday and addressed people with the problem. “ We are testing to the full extent of testing capabilities at this time “ - Governor Abbott. He said “There are hundreds of counties in the state of texas out of which only 54 have been tested positive with COVID 19 and Austin is one of them. And for this reason a statewide shelter is not the solution we need right now “
“What may be right for large urban place may not be right for small counties like Austin and other hundreds of the counties in the state of Texas.“ The situation is for now given in the hands of local officials and mayors to work out what is best for the people of their counties. Meanwhile a ban has been imposed by the Governor on gathering of 10 or more than 10 people to avoid the alleviation of Covid 19 cases.
In case of non compliance the governor is ready to take more strict actions to avoid any further increase in the cases. As per now 8700 people have been tested and less than 80 tests were positive. Only 6 people have died according to Abbott.
