Mummers Get Disqualified From Competition After Hw Wears Blackface
In the parade on Wednesday, a pair of mummers were found in the black face which led to the disqualification of their group from the competition.
At the Pennsylvania Convention Center, the Froggy Carr group was booted from the competition on the Wednesday night when two members were found wearing black face in the parade.
Apart from this, blackface drew a lot of criticism from Mayor Jim Kenney as he called it abhorrent and further added that the group could face repercussion.
As per CBS Philadelphia, two men dressed in blackface were Mike Tomaszwski and Kevin Kinkel, both of whom said the paint was not bigot as the gathering's subject was Gritty, with individuals donning orange and dark.
As per the Philadelphia Inquirer, the city has required racial-affectability preparing for certain Mummers and have inspected march plans.

Participants' Blackface Condemned by the Mummers Group
The use of blackface by people has been condemned by the leaders of a mummers group and they are speaking out against its use in their parade outfit. This happened when several participants were spotted at the parade with their faces painted.
Officials with the Froggy Carr group, in an interview, said that there would be zero tolerance for blackface and it is not ok. Furthers, the leaders said that in the video and the photos, there is a man that is seen in them is a member while the other is not.
Stephen Pakech, Foggy Carr Presidents, said it was their decision yo wear the blackface, thereby, breaking away from the others. He and different pioneers said the two put on blackface in the motorcade without pioneers' information. The episode has drawn fury from neighbourhood pioneers, including Mayor Jim Kenney and Council President Darrel Clarke. Philadelphia formally restricted blackface from the Mummers Parade, harking back to the 1960s.
Man accused of wearing blackface during the Mummers Parade 2020 in Philadelphia
With the latest version of parade and fun, it was not without controversy again.
Two members of Froggy Carin, the Wench Brigade, have been accused in the case of wearing blackface.
Some people believe that it was clearly racist, while some have a belief that there were no ill intentions. Froggy Carr got disqualified from the competition. There could be further consequences said, Mayor Jim Kenney. The theme of the Froggy Carr's performance on Broad Street was Gritty. During the parade, some of the marchers wore black and orange costumes. They also held umbrellas to resemble the Flyers mascot.
People had different variations of face paint, but there were only two marchers who wore black faces.
Mayor Kenney tweeted that "The use of blackface by someone affiliated with Froggy Carr today was abhorrent and unacceptable. This selfish, hateful behavior has no place in the Mummers, or the city itself. We must be better than this. The group was disqualified, and we will be exploring additional penalties."

He further appreciated the support of the entire mummer's community during the whole year by saying that "We love you guys, and we need the support, so please keep it coming."
An emblem with the initials "DP," "JF" and "KW" was posted by the band on their facebook page, earlier this week.
