'Ok, Boomer' marked as the latest cultural putdown, conflict between younger and older people
Young and older people are not able to take care of themselves properly, blame, and resentment flowing both ways.
'Ok, Boomer' became the latest cultural putdown. Misunderstanding is getting generated across the generation spectrum.
Young people are facing frustration and pressure because of the continuously increasing housing and education costs. Stagnant wages and precarious work is putting the American dream out of reach. They have to reconsider having children because of the high education and medication costs.
Another thing that is the reason for frustration is prioritizing proposals to increase Social Security payments, or long-term care support for older folks who have had a wealth of opportunities and subsidies.
The older recipients are already enjoying their retirement, which is very comfortable. Life has worked out for them, but many of them are not smart enough to understand how fundamentally broken the economic system is for less advantaged younger people who can't get ahead despite their striving and scraping.
In today's world, multiple generations are getting squeezed; try to meet their basic needs.
However, many older adults are trying to help the younger generation by digging deeper into their reserve of time, money, and energy.
