On the other hand, Los Angeles County accounts for half of the state's COVID-19 cases and has not met the requirements to reopen businesses. The County officials do not expect to follow the relaxed state standards until 4th July. Recently the death and hospitalization trends have improved, but the Whitehouse coronavirus response coordinator told that the spread of COVID-19 is a concern in LA.
Dr. Deborah Birx approached the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to help investigate the source of new cases to help forestall outbreaks in future.
Los Angeles is among the few California's 58 counties that either have not adequately contained the infection to revive more activities and business or, on account of a few San Francisco Bay Area counties, have decided to move all the more gradually.

New Orleans' progress in the tourism industry amid COVID-19
New Orleans, where most of the people are associated with the tourism industry, faces the trouble of unemployment as it is about to enter phase one of its reopening from the COVID-19 shutdown. The virus has completely ceased the economy, which used to be about $200 million per week, as stated by Mark Romig. As the chief of marketing officer at New Orleans and Company, he points out the world is in a broken state and airlines and cruises being idle, it is impossible to sell New Orleans to the world at the moment.
New Orleans had been heavily dependent on tourism and gossip hospitality post-oil bust in 1980. Romig says it is a negative impact on the individuals and their families as roughly 98,000 local jobs are tied with this industry, and there is a 25% decrease in employment rate in the city and about 14% nationally.
A record-setting 19.75 million people visited, spending $10.5 billion on tourism and entertainment in the past year, the current situation is a major setback for the once-thriving industry.
Mr Vimal Patel, who owns four hotels in Laplace, says there is not enough resource to cover the mortgage of all the properties as the turnover is mostly dependent on tourism.
Romig believes though it is a positive step to reopen the city, with the increasing unemployment, the local tourism might take 3-4 years to recover, and the consequences might last for a long time.
