"Pack the bus" helps Food Banks: Lifehouse joins Donatos' pizza, donations recieved over 3500 pounds


Currently, the entire country is facing tremendous difficulty, and a considerable number of people are relying on the food banks for assistance. In these tough times, Virginia Beach church Lifehouse has volunteered to help. The lead pastor Brandon Shank shared his thoughts saying that there is a vast population that is scared, raising families and children are not in school. Thus they are trying to discover different ways to render help. Lifehouse joined hands with Donatos' pizza to be a part of the donation event- "pack the bus".

This donation event is a massive food drive that is immensely helping the Food Bank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore. Lifehouse members are collecting Donations, and the lead pastor Shank informs that they are going to drive the bus and give away all the donations to the Food Bank. Also, they are giving away individual pizzas for each contribution. These donations also include baby formula and diapers. Shank also told that there is more need than the available resources and hence donations are required desperately. He thinks that this will be a great turnout and the Food Bank will also be able to provide food to a lot more number of people.

According to the 3:00 pm Saturday reports, this event has successfully collected donations over 3,500 pounds out of which, 2,265 meals were given away through the monetary contributions received, and they have served more than 200 pizzas.

Local officials ready to reopen beaches from Friday


The beaches are almost ready for its reopening after lockdown.


Beaches in resort city will welcome visitors from Friday, as the beaches had remained closed for around two months for anything except exercising and fishing.


New signs are installed, which will remind people about social distancing and other safe practices.

The sand may be soggy, but the boardwalk is bright, and a breeze of summer is in the air.

Drew Lankford, the spokesman for the Public Works Department, said it’s a big day.

“It’s also different than what we’ve done in the past,” he said.

Visitors will sign to remind them of restrictions.

“People got to realize it’s not going to be business as usual but that doesn’t mean you can’t still go down there and enjoy yourself,” Lankford said.

The city is also preparing for the Memorial Day weekend apart from clean teams and beach ambassadors.


“We’re putting in some extra crews. We’re extending hours to have crews down there cleaning up. We’re putting extra trash cans on the beach,” Lankford said.

Lankford also said that the city is ready for Floatopia, the infamous event which made it to national news after people left the shore littered.

“Just in case, we’ve gone and made plans to have extra trash cans, crews down there checking on things, some dumpsters,” Lankford said.

Northern Virginia, Richmond and Accomack County were granted two-week delay after the local officials remarked that it was very early to take a step forward, and no restrictions have been lifted in these places.

Newspaper reports reveal that people maintained distance and beach did not appear congested; the majority of the people on boardwalk wore masks. Kyla Thomas and his co-workers wore masks and gloves; they were distributing scones at an oceanfront concession stand. They revealed that it seemed to them as the beginning of summer and they were shocked to see the enormous crowd.

Northam not long ago said he put together his choice to revive concerning positive trends in crucial measurements identified with the infection’s spread, similar to emergency clinic preparation and testing limit. He repeatedly focused on the procedure being moderate.

Alice Seabold apologized for the illegal conviction of a man who was found not guilty of raping her in 1981.


In her first book, Lucky, Seabord described being raped. Anthony Broadwater was convicted of the crime. He spent 16 years in prison and was on the sex offender registry for more than 20 years.


Seabold also wrote the novel The Lovely Bones, which Peter Jackson turned into an Oscar-nominated film.


"I am most sorry that the life you could have been unjustly stolen from you, and I know that no apology can change what has happened to you," Seabold said in a statement.

A statement released by Broadwater's lawyers said he was "relieved that she apologized."

Seabold's first autobiographical novel sold more than a million copies, which marked the beginning of her writing career.

In it, she described in detail how an 18-year-old student at Syracuse University in New York was raped.
