The Virginia beach city council has decided to wave off meals tax. This decision was taken keeping in mind the struggle of residents of Virginia beach amid the pandemic. This relaxation in food tax will be offered from May 1 till June. The city council has also taken a decision to help local businesses by removing late fees and interest on personal property taxes until Aug 1.
As the restaurants are allowed only to offer services to their customers only by home delivery amid the pandemic, the city has decided to continue the decision of free parking. This decision to continue free parking will be very beneficial to restaurants. However, to ensure that enough space is present, the two -hour restriction would still be followed.

Two Virginia residents charged for having drugs
In Dare County, after being caught at a checkpoint, two men who were accused of drug charges were being arrested. It was on Thursday, April 23, at the Wright Memorial Bridge, when four Virginia residents came through a vehicle at around 1:00 am. A district deputy who was working at the checkpoint asked the driver for a driving license, and when the driver could not show his driving license, then the residents were asked to pull over the side of the road.

He was also charged with failing to wear a belt, driving with a canceled license, and was released on a $3000 secured bond.
Chesapeake police catch stole a vehicle
A stolen vehicle caught by Chesapeake police and the driver and passengers of the vehicle are charged with possession of stolen auto, felony eluding and obstruction of justice. The missing driver is believed to be the younger brother of Rucker.
16 year old goes missing from Virginia beach
Ashylnn Barnes a 16 year old went missing and a missing report was submitted at 7 pm on the April 16th, the police are suspecting it to be a case of runaway from Virginia beach. The teen girl was spotted last at Emerald Point Apartments around 7 pm and was seen wearing gray sweatpants with black tank top and black jacket and black Vans shoes, Virginia Beach Police said, The National Center for Missing and Endangered Inc. Is looking into the case and has put out a Facebook post and stated that the girl is 16, about 5 feet 5 inches tall and 190 pounds.

"Maskforce" - the new hope in community
A group of people headed out intending to put a mask on every face, and they call themselves "Mask force." CJ Robinson, a former nurse at Sentara Leigh Hospital in Norfolk, left the job to become a stay-at-home mom she says she is worried about her former colleagues. They are now facing a deadly virus to fight with while there is an alarming shortage of protective gear. much love and support, people came forward to work along with her. And just like that, she won One hundred supporters overnight and now they are all a group of 1300 people working for one goal, the hospitals in their area is supplying then with a protective material called Halyard. The group has delivered 9000 masks so far, from making 250 masks per day in the first week they went to making 2000 masks per day as of yesterday. The group says handing over a cover to a person isn't just a transaction; it's like giving them hope that they are not doing it alone and their community is with them.
Operation Smiles serve meals to medical staff in hospitals at many hospitals in Virginia Beach
The doctors and other medical staff is busy saving lives, and Hampton Roads community is trying to feed them a delicious meal to thank them.
Operation Smile is partnering with local restaurants to serve warm meals to medical staff. The initiative is called Serving Smiles and has three benefits- Increase business for the restaurants, show support and appreciation for health workers, and empower students to give back at the time of need.
Every day starts at a restaurant to cook delicious meals, and then the team of students pack the lunches and then deliver to nearby hospitals. On Wednesday, teams of students delivered almost 200 lunches to Sentara Leigh, Norfolk General, Sentara Princess Anne, and Sentara Obici. Meals were packed and delivered to Sentara Leigh Hospital, and the staff was overwhelmed by the appreciation. By the end of this week, the team is expected to deliver around 1000 meals. The students at Operation Smile keep all the precautions while cooking, packing, and delivering the food, such as social distancing and sanitation. The pilot program which started in Hampton Roads, Virginia, region this month had expanded to New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Texas, and California. In New York, lunch will be delivered to Leno Hill Hospital in Manhattan and Mt. Sinai Elmhurst Hospital in Queens.
